Alarm Annunciation System

The CAN-AS series of Alarm Annunciation Systems are offered with several advanced features, which were available with only with high end control systems until now. The enhanced integrated design using latest 32 bit Micro-controller technology brings the advantage of complex programmability, lower power consumption & improved reliability to the users at reasonable costs.

The user of CAN-AS system has the option of selecting any one out of nine standard Alarm Sequences (Ref. ISA Publication*) using Programmable Sequence configuration. Special option of Multiple sequence selection and window grouping is also provided (factory set) on request.

MODBUS-RTU/ MODBUS-TCP-IP communication protocol selection is available for REMOTE monitoring and control operations.

CAN-AS-PFB variants are available with PROFIBUS slave operation capability by adding an external Canopus make PROFIBUS slave interface module.

The CAN-AS30 is offered with 30 nos. of annunciation windows. The design takes care of the control panel mounting problems faced due to restrictions on the depth and weight of the display units fitted on the panel door. The CAN-AS30 incorporates a panel front mounted lightweight Annunciation Display Module having depth of only 70mm. This is connected with a base mounted Control Module using a multi-core cable. The Control Module is fitted inside the panel and input signals and Power Supply connections can be easily wired to it. This avoids the inconvenience of running all wiring on the panel door and reduces maintenance problems.

The CAN-AS systems are also offered in 8, 12, 16, & 24 window configurations.

INPUTS
All inputs to the system are 24VDC operated potential free contacts. Inputs are provided with optical isolation. This enables the system to operate without disturbance of external electrical noise.
Each input can be individually programmed to be recognized as ACTIVE in High (NO) or LOW (NC) state.

SYSTEM SET UP & CONFIGURATION
The system can be configured with the help of RS232 communication port provided on the front side of the Control Module.
Canopus Instruments provides a PC based software tool for configuration of the system. This allows the user to set following parameters.

  • Individual Input alarm active state (High/Low)
  • Command Pushbutton Input active state (High/Low)
  • Set valid Input reorganization delay (No of scan cycles.)
  • Select Communication Protocol MODBUS-RTU/ MODBUS-TCP.
  • Set System Address for Communication.
  • Set Communication parameters.
  • Select operating Sequence.
  • Select Input Groups (Applicable for specific sequences only.)
  • Select Alarm Window indication flash rate.

A. PUSHBUTTON INPUTS:

Standard requirement of alarm annunciation system is three push buttons.

  • LAMP TEST
  • ACKNOWLEDGE
  • RESET

Additional three push buttons are provided in CAN-AS system.

  • SILENCE
  • SEQUENCE TEST
  • FIRST UP RESET

These pushbuttons are provided to fulfill the requirement of all the operating sequences offered in the system.

B. ALARM DISPLAY:

Red LED windows provided to display Alarm state of all input channels. Depending on the status of Alarm the indication is,

  • Fast Flashing (FF)
  • Slow Flashing (SF)
  • Steady (ON)
  • OFF

C. RELAY OUTPUTS:

4 nos. of Potential free relay contacts (NO+NC) are provided for connecting system fault output signals to external control systems. These can also be used for driving external 230VAC operated Hooters or LAMP indications.

REMOTE OPERATION:

Remote monitoring and control operation is possible using a suitable SCADA package such as ELLIPSE, LABVIEW, etc.
The communication set up is established using options provided such as MODBUS-RTU, MODBUS-TCP, and PROFIBUS. (Refer to data format and set up details in the manual.)
