The Remote Thermocouple Cluster Transmitter is an innovative product from Canopus Instruments suitable for transmitting a variety of Thermocouple signals from a cluster of process units on a single two wire Profibus-DP bus system. The transmitter can handle 8 Thermocouple signals with channel wise range & diagnostics selection through software. The Thermocouple types R , J , K , T & S can be selected through software. Algorithms are provided for Cold junction compensation & Thermocouple non-linearity compensation . The integrated Profibus DP communications interface with configurable baud rates from 9.6Kbps to 12Mbps gives flexibility in connectivity to any Profibus DP Master.

 
     
 

The complete software configurability for input signal types, range & diagnostics without jumper or DIP switch settings and the incorporation of the industry standard open fieldbus system PROFIBUS-DP facilitates quick set-up & integration with the main control system.

 
 

 

 
 

The transmitter is housed in a ABS Plastic enclosure with integrated 2.5 mm sq. terminal blocks for direct field cable termination. The transmitter can be mounted on a 35 mm standard DIN rail . A direct field mountable design in a die cast Aluminium enclosure is under development. This shall be suitable for mounting on a MS / SS pipe of suitable diameter.

The transmitter provides enormous cost savings for those users wishing to migrate to a Fieldbus system from the traditional concept of direct field cabling of temperature sensors. Direct cost savings accrue from reduced lengths of Thermocouple compensation cables as large distances can be covered with the Profibus-DP fieldbus system. The complete software configurability of the device facilitates quick system set-up & integration with the main control system resulting in reducing the system commissioning time.
